Introduction

The movie Namaste Wahala which means “Hello Trouble” premiered on Netflix on the 14th of February 2021. This is the first collaboration between Nollywood and Bollywood.

Tweets were collected using the keywords “Namaste Wahala” and #NamasteWahala to determine the virality, sentiment, and influencers related to the movie.

Kindly note that this is an initial analysis and more data will be collected and further analyzed to arrive at informed conclusions.

Analysis

Time

We’ll be considering the following time frames:
The Week before the release (Pre-Launch) and how the keywords performed on the day of the movie release (Launch Day).

Pre-Launch

From the graph, there was very little activity regarding the hashtag and keyword prior to the launch date. Although Netflix released the trailer for the film on 31 January 2021, we didn't see enough traction leading to the movie release.

The gap between the number of the tweets on the release date and the days preceding the premiere is wide and this could be due to low awareness.

Conclusions will be made after updating the data to reflect the number of tweets up to the next 3 days.

Launch Day

On the launch day for the Namaste Wahalamovie, we see how users tweeted throughout the hours of the day.

The slow activity from the morning might be attributed to Valentine's day. People were invested in celebrating love with their partners and families.

A deeper analysis into the tweet performance shows that many people were actually talking about the movie based on first-hand experience. The number of Original tweets on the premiere date can attest to that.

Top Commentators

This shows the top users who commented on the movie. They could have been live-tweeting while watching or giving their reviews immediately after seeing the movie.

Top Retweets

The chart and collage below show the users with the highest number of retweets. NetflixNaija being the clear leader here as they are the streaming platform promoting the movie premiere.

Word Cloud

A word cloud is used here to highlight popular phrases and words. These words are also ranked according to their frequency and this reflects in the size.

Text Analysis

Sentiment Analysis

Sentiment Analysis is used here to identify and categorize user opinions. This is used to analyze the audience's attitude towards the Namaste Wahala movie.

We are only going to visualize the tweet sentiments of the movie premiere date i.e 14th of February 2021. We are doing this to get the opinions of the people that saw the movie.

Here we can see that the movie is filled with positive reviews which constitute 54% of the original tweets.

Auto-Categories

The tweets are categorized using the categories from Wikipedia. The analysis takes each tweet based on keywords and places them in respective categories. Here are the top-ranking categories.

Conclusion

Based on this analysis, we can say, Namaste Wahala enjoyed a lot of positive reviews and organic engagements. However, the promotion and marketing departments need to scale up or buck up by analyzing data like this to get better engagements against next time. This way, they are better prepared on how to generate awareness for future projects.
